With the outdoor rule-of-six now firmly in place, our gardens have once again become social focal points. Even the smallest spaces can be transformed into little extensions of our homes and, with some careful planning, we can enjoy the great outdoors throughout the year.
If you want to create an intimate lounge-feel in the garden, a Day Bed is a lovely option. Deep seated designs, like our Branchwood Day Bed, provide ample space for sharing, curling up or stretching out. Handmade from salvaged teak branches, this design is beautifully rustic and very comfortable, with its grey linen base and scatter cushions. Add a faux or woollen throw, or two, to keep cosy into the evening.
Create an additional seating area with a Branchwood Bar Table and Stools. These designs fit beautifully into the smallest of nooks. They’re also ideal for larger families and groups, where couples or older children need a little privacy. The stools also work equally well around a kitchen island – handy for indoor entertaining when rules relax on 17 May.
For keeping warm and cooking al fresco, you can’t beat a fire pit. They’re practical, portable and they come with lots of useful accessories. Our own Reclaimed Fire Pit is based on the iconic Indian Kadai – a bowl shaped pan used over the centuries to cook food. It’s made from a recycled wrought iron oil drum and comes in three sizes, with a tong, wire brush and stand. For more about fire pits, see – How to Choose a Fire Pit.
What better way to serve food outside than a rustic wooden platter or server. They bring a really organic feel to the table and are ideal for sharing breads, cheeses, mezze and tapas. The Petrified Wood Platter is one our favourite designs; it has bags of natural, tactile appeal and, as it is non-porous, it’s hygienic and practical too.
Why not turn your garden into a spa retreat this summer? The Riverstone Hot Tub is the ultimate garden investment, creating a beautiful rustic feature and a place to wallow in the sunshine, or under the stars. Each Riverstone Hot Tub is unique and is handmade from a salvaged Basalt boulder from the active Marapi volcano.
