Abaca Trunk Lights
Inspired by the irregular shape of a tree trunk, these Trunk Lights are hand woven from the Abaca fibre and have a distinctive, tactile surface. Abaca
is a tree-like herb that is of the same genus as the common banana plant, which it closely resembles. It grows widely in The Philippines, where the lamp
shades are made. The stem of the Abaca leaf is used to create a strong fibre which, in the past, was used to make Manila hemp ropes. The fibres are wrapped
around a fibreglass base by hand to create these unusual hanging lights which have a stunning organic design and wave-like profile.
